Giuseppe Bortolussi

Giuseppe Bortolussi (Gruaro, 4 August 1948) is an Italian politician from Veneto.

In 1980 Bortolussi became director of the Mestre section of Confartigianato, the largest Italian organization representing artisans and small entrepreneurs. He later became (and currently is) president of the section. From this position he gained national attention for his criticism of high taxes and bureaucracy.[1]

Close to the Italian Communist Party in his youth, Bortolussi was appointed assessor of Commerce of Venice by Mayor Massimo Cacciari, but lasted only some months in that post. Cacciari again appointed Bortolussi assessor of Productive Activities in 2005 and this Bortolussi concluded his full five-year term. In 2010 Bortolussi was the centre-left candidate for President of Veneto, but was defeated by Luca Zaia by a landslide.[2][3]
